CEL Win Contract to complete Fifth Dome of The Bramall Music Building to complete Chancelors Court
CEL Ltd have won the contract to work beside BAM Construction for the leadworks at Bramall Music Building. This was won in March 2011 and approximately 25 tonne of sand cast lead will be required for this project.
The University of Birmingham was originally intended to be a series of interlocking domed roof buildings to create a semi circle called Chancelors Court and was designed in 1909.
We will be completing the fifth and final domed roof that will house the Bramall Music auditorium. This will not only provide the university with a state of the art teaching and research centre but perform as a 450 seat concert hall.
To capture the progress of this final link to Chancelors Court, a webcam has been installed on the college campus clock tower so that images of the dome's progression can be seen almost in real-time. See link below:
