Clare College

Working within the constraints of this famous college's academic programme and access restrictions, C.E.L successfully laid the foundations of a major internal refurbishment.

Project Overview

Location: Clare College, Cambridge

Materials: Collyweston slate, sandcast lead, timber.

Description: This first stage of a major internal refurbishment, involving timber repairs and Collyweston slate and sandcast lead replacement ensured the success of the second phase of internal refurbishment.

As the first stage of a major internal refurbishment of this historic college, timber repairs were required, along with Collyweston slate and sandcast lead replacement.

All the work took place within the restraints of the college's academic programme and access restrictions. Replacement of spawled stone masonry and rotten timber substrates ensured that the second phase of internal refurbishment could proceed in the knowledge that the stone masonry and sandcast lead would keep the elements out for years to come.
