During the refurbishment of this magnificent neo-classical building, C.E.L took the original lead to its factory and recast it to meet modern construction guidelines.

Designed by Harvey Lonsdale Elmes, the building is said to be one of Europe's finest neo-classical buildings.

During the £23 million refurbishment, 300 tons of sandcast lead sheet was specially recast from the building' s existing lead. The original lead was taken to our works and recast into new sandcast lead sheets at the improved thickness required by project architects Purcell Miller Triton. To adhere to modern construction guidelines, lead sheets of up to 5.5mm thick and 5 metres long were produced.
