There are dozens of completed examples, nationwide, of C.E.L’s superb roofing skills and the ability of its craftsmen to overcome seemingly impossible problems.

At Ickworth House in Suffolk, C.E.L was faced with the daunting logistics of getting five tons of sandcast lead onto the centre of a 150 feet high and 90 feet wide dome. The problem was soon overcome with the use of specially designed scaffolding and two levels of hoisting.

As well as using traditional materials on historic buildings, C.E.L is also involved in many new-build projects, specialising in complete roofs made from zinc and stainless steel.

For the construction of a new school at Hampton, Peterborough, C.E.L were asked to install a zinc roof, fascias and soffits. Zinc was the material of choice as it is zero maintenance and has a minimum life expectancy of 60 years.
