Stormont Castle, Belfast
Redesigned in 1858 by Thomas Turner, this restoration project of the building known locally as "Storm Mount" required 220 tons of milled lead sheet, installed over a three-year period.
Work included the 9-metre high decorative turrets and cupolas, along with the lead gutters and flat roofs. A mixture of modern and traditional lead systems gave this original powerhouse of Irish reform a new lease of life for the next 100 years, while retaining the essence of its last major refurbishment.
