As the company developed and grew, it diversified by adding other skills and services, including the installation of other non-ferrous metals - copper, zinc and stainless steel - which were being heavily promoted by European suppliers as an alternative to the traditional British product.
Towards the end of the 1990s, C.E.L decided to further advance the professionalism and commitment towards the ecclesiastical projects it was undertaking. With the encouragement of the architectural practices with which it was working, the company became the principal contractor on its projects - taking on all the primary trades required, including stonemasons, carpenters and slaters.
In 1998 C.E.L had outgrown its existing base in Peterborough and acquired new, larger premises at its current site in Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire. The new premises not only allowed the company to expand but also meet the business needs of its growing client base.
